Paris me manque beaucoup.

I’m missing Paris like I never thought I would. Like a lover I took for granted.

To be in the embrace of it all again.

I am positively OBSESSED with KT Tunstall at the moment.

This week,

I much prefer the new arts canteen. Most important: it’s not smelly anymore.

School has been… interesting. I need to get on top of things. I need to decide on what I want to do for my independent study module and be coherent enough about it by Monday. I need to get on top of this, and other things.

To do all the above, I need to stop wanting to watch Will & Grace!

Today,

I went to the National Museum today for Short Cuts. The National Museum is so pretty now! So were the short films.

I am in love with my vintage Etienne Aigner bag.

Okaybyebyegoodnight.

Over the weekend, I met the cutest little dog who’s a bit afraid of heights. (Oops she’s quite high up in this photo, isn’t she? Anyway I’m in love with her.) Then, I  put a purple elephant in the fridge (I’m sorry again my dearest Graceful Birch… but I’ll bet your L. enjoyed the cold for a change), was thrown in the pool for the first time in my life, met old friends, made new friends who know old friends present and absent, was crammed in a cab with four funny live-in-the-East boys (and a very nice uncle who allowed us all to get in) in the middle of the night, and then slept more than half of Sunday away.

Not a bad weekend at all.

Also went for one of my lovely long runs, watched Calendar Girls (which I love!) and continued reading my first Murukami Haruki novel (Kafka on the Shore).

School’s starting in about a week. Hmmm.

You know I’ve been saying I’m not going to blog anymore, but what am I doing right now? And at work too. Tsk\: Okayfeelingbadbyebyebacktowork.

Champagne Monday, 30 July, 2007

We made a day trip out of Champagne (17th June). There were me, Mario, ZY and ZY’s Jenni. Mario and I had heard a lot about Jenni for a looooong time, and so it was great to finally meet this larger-than-life person.

Our Champagne trip wasn’t particularly exciting. In the car, we sang along to the cds I’d mixed (in response to Mario’s mostly terrible music choices that we had to suffer through over and over again on our last road trip or face the equally awful music played on the French radio stations). We sang our hearts out and it was very fun. I was only afraid at some points that Mario would be distracted/alarmed by our singing and swerve the car into mishap, but no.

Lunch was at the Buffalo Grill. Only because we kept seeing them in France but had not eaten at one before. It was not very good. Then we went to the Cathedrale- the grand structure dominating Champagne. That was suitably impressive.

Coming out into the strong sunlight again, we walked to and in the town square, ate sub-standard ice-cream, went into McDonald’s for yummier milkshake, peered into shop windows, talked about how the centre-ville of Champagne was like that of Nice… and soon it was time to drive over to the Pommery cellar for our wine cellar tour.

The wine cellar was REALLY STRANGE. A lot of installation art- I don’t understand why I paid for a wine cellar tour and ended up seeing installation art. The guide was really bad. Seriously. We were so annoyed… but then we were each given a flute of bubbly and were tipsy, if not appeased.

By this time, it was raining and it was also time for the drive back, with me contentedly sleeping next to the driver (while holding my red balloon from Buffalo Grill-my face was the same red), the trusty Mario- the poor thing who always has to drive responsibly while the rest of us sleep like the unglamorous pigs that we are.

Company makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

“In traveling, a companion, in life, compassion.” So they say.

Hello again, it’s been some time(: I’m working weekdays 0830-1800 and then there are the dinners at home and outside that stretch lazily into the night. The past weekend, I rested like a pig (eat sleep eat sleep you get the idea). My room reorganization is thus progressing very slowly, when I’m not watching streaming Brothers & Sisters online (they just started showing it on Channel 5) etc etc. Really need to step on it- mama’s not pleased with the state of my room (even though it’s not bad at all okay).

Alright two things. Go watch W!LD RICE’S HAPPY ENDINGS ASIAN BOYS VOL. 3. It’s seriously good. And now for an entertaining something, click here. I chanced upon it HAHA… when I googled how to walk to Club Street from Raffles Place MRT station. Yes I’m referring to the lightbulb ‘joke’. I love wikipedia for so many reasons(:

I’m loving the weather too. Grey.

Oh yes by the way, I’ll probably not blog anymore after I finally post on my trips to Amsterdam, Brussels and Champagne. ABC.

Have a very nice weekend!

Hello again! It’s been an exciting week and a bit. (No not all details will be shared HO HO.) Scandalicious and not so scandalicious pictures from two fun nights clubbing up on facebook. I am at work now in an office in a building at Raffles Place. I am an office girl! Hahahaha it’s one of my dream temp jobs. The other two are boutique salesgirl and gelato scooper (although you really do not scoop gelato. Rather, you… what? I don’t know what the word is exactly. Now I just feel like eating gelato.) I’ve been a boutique salesgirl before, so yay. And now office girl so double yay. The gelato one we’ll have to wait and see.

So yes I’m quite pleased to be here. Am assisting my cousin. Anyway! I thought since I’ve been very efficient and have completed my tasks for now, I will finally blog about my Austria and Germany trips (and also my Champagne, Amsterdam and Brussels trips… probably in the next few days)- which feel like they were super long ago, but really, I went on them last month.

In brief,

Vienna  is a beautiful city. I love the eye-catching window displays, the wide streets, the huge meaty salads, the cleanliness and the friendliness. Joanne and I walked everywhere- the first day was perfect for doing so because it was a public holiday (I don’t know which.) and the streets were pretty empty and thus perfect for a long leisurely stroll. My favourite food of the whole time we were in Vienna was not the Sacher Torte (a famous chocolate cake), but the Manner wafers- like the Loacker wafers but way better in shape, size and taste. The funniest incident was when I woke up the second morning in my dorm room and the first thing I saw was a boy in bright red briefs sleeping on his girlfriend’s bed with her. Ho hum. The most disturbing incident was seeing this tall skinny man in a heavy leather coat with eyeliner and black nail polish chipping off, standing in the middle of the tourist centre, drooling\:

The train ride to Salzburg was horrid because it was so hot in the train. We did catch a magnificent sunset towards the end of our ride, which was nice.

Salzburg was cute. I was really happy here, because I’d specifically come to go on the Sound of Music tour, and it was fun! I loved seeing and being in/at the places in my favourite movie(: Yay! Cool fact (to me): the headquarters of Red Bull is in the Lake District in Salzburg! I’d always thought Red Bull was Thai\: The headquarters is on an actual lake. The whole Lake District was beautiful… but my favourite Lake is still Lake Como. Had apple strudel outside of the church where Maria and the Captain were married in the movie. The apple strudel was nothing to shout about, so… ok.

Took a night plane to Berlin. Reached my hostel, The Generator, the biggest hostel EVER, just after midnight. The Generator looks like a gigantic hospital. And the sci-fi blue walls and the even more sci-fi blue lights are unfortunate… but I suppose it’s a hostel and it’s right next to the S-Bahn or the U-Bahn (I don’t remember but it was so convenient to have a train station right next to the hostel.)

Early the first day, we had bad breakfast (watered down stuff and just unpalatable food… to me anyway) and then decided to go for some flea market shopping. Turned out the one we wanted to check out had already closed down, but chanced upon a good-looking guy to ask where would be good for such an activity. He was really friendly about it and so we found ourselves at badeschiff. A pretty cool place- second-hand things in a warehouse. Didn’t buy anything though. What was cool too was the outside. There was a canal where people were seated along to talk, eat in restaurants… basically to enjoy a nice Sunday out. There was also an even cooler place- a ship that was converted into a swimming pool- we couldn’t go in without our swimwear, but we did see cool-looking people going in and out! (Will stop using the word cool.) And then we got a little bit tired and hungry and decided to escape into the cool interior of a cafe some distance away, ate yummy food, flirted with the waiters a little and had a nice relaxing afternoon. Refreshed, we visited Checkpoint Charlie. And then the Berlin Wall. And then the Holocaust Memorial. The following day we went on the Berlin Free Walking Tour, which was pretty damn good. (They work for tips, so it’s not really free, but it is a great idea!) It was just so damn hot though! So I became a bronzed girl. I’m still brown from that dayO_O Lunch of the best seafood spaghetti I’ve ever had, and also ginger ale. To the Jewish Museum after the walking tour, which I enjoyed.

I can’t remember what I did the last day. HMMM. Will try to remember. If not, will ask Joanne. Probably something idyllic like wandering/sitting/reading/eating/shopping or all of the above.

This holiday was a good one! Packed, beautiful, interesting, historical, contemplative, plenty of cold chocolate milk, cherries, conversation, pretty things.

Hello I’m back in Singapore! I’ve been to a preview of the NDP, eaten many many things I’ve missed, unpacked and reorganized (still far from being done), walked around in the new IKEA, watched Harry Potter on Channel 5, gone to school to submit my Sorbonne transcripts, cut my hair, gone to the dentist, baked, ran, hung out with dear friends, watched Ocean’s 13, visited Vivo City etc, and I haven’t been home for even a week yet. It’s madness. Hot, humid madness. Settling down ever so slowly.

(Where are my accounts of the trips I went on in June?! Rah must put them down.)

I’m thinking of not blogging anymore. Hmm.

Thanks for all the happy-birthdays and the welcome-homes!
